There are many different forms of medicine throughout the world and Ayurveda medicine is one of them. One of the most intriguing aspects about this form of medicine is that it focuses more on the prevention of disease and ill health compared to having to treat the problems after they have occurred. This makes a far better approach to medicine when you think about it.
The body as one unit
The platform of Ayurveda is recognizing that the body must be treated as one unit. It is a holistic approach to medicine. It certainly is not a new concept as it was developed in India thousands of years ago.
Mind Body and Spirit
In this form of medicine that body is viewed in three components being the mind, body and spirit. In order for a person to be in good health and be able to prevent illnesses these three components must be in harmony with each other. While Ayurveda medicine has its main focus on prevention medicine it does have effective treatments to be used if a health problem does occur.
Connection to the Universe
Those practicing this form of medicine, believing that good health can only be maintained when the mind, body and spirit are connected with each other but also that everything in the Universe is also connected. Therefore, when these connections get disrupted then the harmony is broken
Body Imbalance
As humans being exposed to the universe we are exposed to potential disruptions of this balance of harmony such as the environment itself, or injuries. We become imbalanced as we age, or we could be born with a congenital defect that affects our harmony. Then there are our emotions that can unbalance us. Many of these factors we do not have control over so Ayurveda Medicine provides a treatment for when the body becomes unbalanced.
